The MSP Priests are greatly supported in our service to our mission by many generous men and women, who give of their talents, time and energy as lay associates called Associate Missionaries of St Paul (AMSP).

All of us are called to be disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ. At our baptism we were made members of His Body, the Church. All of us share in the glory of being “a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God” (1 Pet 2:9).

We have received special gifts from the Holy Spirit to use for the building up the Body of Christ (1 Cor 12).

Associate Missionaries of St Paul (AMSP)

Associate Missionaries of St. Paul (AMSP) are generous lay faithful collaborators who support the works of the Missionary Society of St. Paul (MSP) with their time, talents, and prayers. Their mandate is to follow in the footsteps of the Great Apostle, St. Paul, striving to bring Christ to people where the need is the greatest in today’s society.

The MSP inspire lay people to follow Christ more meaningfully in these current times and faithfully uplift them in the Spirit. They host youth retreats, talks and dialogues, devotional prayer, fellowship, works of justice, and outreach in the community.

The Associate Missionaries of St. Paul (AMSP) are Catholic men and women who:

  • Desire to deepen their spiritual growth through association with the Missionaries of St. Paul (MSP)

  • Are involved in the work of God through prayers, financial support and moral support to MSP

  • Are willing to respond to, participate and share in the missionary mandate of Christ -”Go out to the whole world, proclaim the Good News.”

  • Benefit from sharing in the fruits of our Roman Catholic faith and are encouraged by MSP priests to promote the charism and mission.

What do AMSP do?

Commit

The AMSP commit themselves in love to help revive the Church in our time, through prayer and participation.

Collaborate

AMSP collaborates with the priests of the MSP to reach out to those served by MSP in their missions. Like the holy women and men in the scriptures who assisted Christ and his apostles in their work, AMSP contribute their talents, time, and prayers to assist in the work of the Missionary Society of St. Paul. AMSP members come together, wherever it is possible, for prayer and retreats for their spiritual growth and wellbeing.

Development

They organize inspiring conferences, retreats, and recollections; and, support priests and their communities while encouraging participation in their local church.

Membership and Commitment

To become an AMSP one must be a Catholic in good standing, either married or single, at least 16 years of age, who desires to embrace the spirituality and mission of the Missionaries of St Paul, as Ambassadors for Christ.

The AMSP are not a community unto themselves but are individuals who wish to be associated with the Missionaries of St Paul. It is not necessary to live in geographical proximity to a MSP parish or other foundation.

Those interested and enquiring about the AMSP are asked to contact their local MSP Priest or email, amstpaulcanada@gmail.com Once having done so, and with a sincere desire to enter into association with the Companions of the Cross, they may formally enroll online as Lay Associates. This enrollment includes the commitment to embrace and live out the spirituality and mission of the Companions of the Cross, as laity in the Church, and to the support the mission and ministries of the Companions of the Cross when possible.

AMSP Prayer to St. Paul

O blessed St. Paul,

who, from a persecutor of Christianity,

did become a most ardent apostle for love and zeal of our Lord Jesus Christ,

and made Him, our Saviour, known

to the ends of the earth; who suffered imprisonment, scourging, stoning, shipwrecks,

and persecutions of every kind with joy,

and in the end gave your life for Christ.

Obtain for us the grace to receive

Divine Mercy, as we struggle with

infirmities, tribulations,

and misfortunes in this present life,

so that the daily circumstances of our exile

in this valley of tears

will not render us cold in the service of God,

but will render us always more faithful and fervent.

Through Christ, our Lord.

Amen.
